Official statistics from the Pew Research Center have made clear that a larger percentage of Democrats than Republican have problems accepting the political views of those different from themselves.
Of those, more women than men have such difficulties. The conclusion is thus that according to official research, not only are those on the left more intolerant about different political views than the right, but that women are more intolerant about different political views than men.
Any notion of the left, and to go a layer deeper, of leftist women, being “tolerant,” open to “diversity,” being “inclusive,” and being less “judgmental,” as opposed to what they see as their political opponents on the right can now safely be put to bed.
Sure, they tend to embrace all of these values, but only provided that you agree with them, which means that these values end up being completely meaningless. After all, who wouldn’t be accepting and tolerant of people that agree with them, and unaccepting of those that don’t? The patting on their own backs for having all of these values is not only meaningless but hypocritical to the point of ridicule.
Now that i have addressed the now statistically proven fact that those on left will be more likely to be intolerant of those with different opinions than them, and thus that all of their values are meaningless and hypocritical, we can take note of what Stefan Molyneux has to say about it.
This is a very important lesson for those that are not on the left, which includes both statists and libertarians. Obviously, i feel only libertarians should take note.
There is no chance in hell of libertarianism ever taking any root, without equaling the commitment that leftists have. Leftists have completely won the narrative, even if the right has surges. All the main institutions in society: (politics, media, academe, literature, arts and sciences, labor, entertainment, and even many churches) are driven by leftist assumptions. Because such institutions have leadership roles and basically dictate the flow of information in society, they will continue to exhert influence over the thought processes of the whole of society. While some that are aware of this can resist this influence, the average Joe will walk unassumingly into the elite’s clutches.
What Cultural Marxists called “the long march through the institutions” is precisely what they did, and clearly with success. This is the degree of the leftists’ commitment and dedication. In terms of controlling the narrative, having control over the institutions, and making headway in the ideological struggle for maintaining or transforming society, right now they have won.
And they have won not through living up to their professed values but precisely because they didn’t. The Cultural Marxist left has been the opposite. They have been aggressive in their approach, antagonistic, uncompromising, judgmental, unashamed, guiltless, mendacious, manipulative, irrational, arrogant, slanderous, bullying, censorious; anything that they deemed required to reach their aim.
Meanwhile, their opponents (moderates, libertarians, conservatives, etc) have opted to take the high ground in most cases, and the result of this is obvious. Especially when it comes to being convinced of one’s own ideals and convictions, and whether one ought to feel shame for their own values, the right has been laughably spineless. This is precisely how the mainstream right has allowed itself to be dragged ever leftward and adopting large portions of the leftist narrative. How can a society ever be inclined to adopt the Orwellian, linguistic madness of what we have been seeing especially the last few years, if not by a lack of conviction, courage and commitment?
The biggest problem in the ideological wars of today, is not even so much the Cultural Marxists; it’s us.
We need to stop the pussyfooting, the guilt, the shame, the moral high ground of the civil tone in debate, the acquiescence to their tactics, fighting them with our own harmless weapons rather than fighting them with their own, respecting them, tolerating them, accepting them, being non-judgemental, and allowing them to dictate the narrative.
Don’t let the neo-nazi’s and neo-fascists among the alt-right dominate this aspect of the ideological war. We don’t want them to win any more than we want the left to.
