Neo-confederate racists Californian liberal Trump-haters apparently think it is high time to think about secession from the union. This is particularly hilarious, as much of leftist thought is, because of its inherent mind-bending hypocrisy.
Remember, no left-liberal can be found to object to Abraham Lincoln using wretched federal state violence to keep the Union in tact at the expense of those states that wanted to secede. Remember also, that any non-liberal secession movement is invariably namecalled as being “neo-confederate racists” who apparently want to bring slavery back. The drive for decentralization is considered inherently conservative, reactionary, ‘libertardian’, racist, sexist, uncivilized, you name it, by the worshipers of centralized big government.
Yet here we are, with Trump having been elected president, and suddenly the California left is pining to secede from the Union, because their voting habits have no influence whatsoever on the outcome.
Welcome to democracy! Welcome to the pain and anguish of libertarians! So nice to meet you. Join us in rejecting the tyranny of the majority and of the federal state pushing us around.
It would be a nice meeting, if it was actually serious, if it was the result of honest and logical thinking, and if they meant a single word of it. The fact is, that just like all the protesting leftists around the country, they just can’t HACK a democracy where a guy other than their own favorite gets to push people around. That’s not how it’s supposed to go. Democracy is supposed to be for Democrats. Right?
Reason, for its part, does an excellent job of pointing out just how brain-numbingly hypocritical the Californian left is about their reasoning for secession, by hinting at the left-liberal dominance of California state politics, regardless of the voting habits of conservative Californians. How would the left within California feel when those conservatives come out and demand secession from the state of California because their voting habits make no dent in state government elections?
We can take an educated guess.
